Happy Father’s Day to all you Dads out there! My little one is due July 16th, officially less than one month to go! Boy am I ready…I think. I’ve started this dad blog, the nursery is finished, we’ve gone to all of the classes, read most of the books, and assembled all of the rockers, gliders, and diaper changing stations. We have the daycare and the pediatrician all lined up, and enough outfits to clothe approximately 25 newborns simultaneously.
Thing left to do:
- Pack hospital bags
- Car seat installation
- Final trip to the baby store for baby stuff
- Figure out how the hell we are going to afford all of this
- Explain to our cats and dog that there are going to be some changes around here
I feel like we are in pretty good shape. Time is moving quicker than I ever thought possible though; the due date is less than one month away!!! It seems like just yesterday we were announcing our pregnancy, and now our baby girl could be here literally any day. From what I can tell though she seems stubborn, it’s a family trait, so I’m sure she’ll take her sweet time. I’m excited, overjoyed, proud, scared, worried, and anxious. After having gone to some of the classes at our hospital though, I feel as though we are as prepared and as educated as we possibly can be. I feel confident that between the two of us, we can leave the hospital, bring our baby home, and provide her with the care and love that she’ll need and that we are so ready to give.
However, this morning I ate Sour Patch kids in bed, before brushing my teeth. I’m currently drinking a beermosa and I’m getting ready to play Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch (a Father’s Day gift from my wife). So am I truly ready? And, what is a beermosa you ask? You can expect to find answers to questions like these as I document my adventures into the world of dadhood on this blog. I assume it’ll be a messy, stinky, and joyful ride and I intend to chronicle as much of it as I can. I hope that I can provide some entertainment to anyone who reads along as I fumble through this journey, while also showcasing my baby and the sights that the wonderful world of Upstate New York has to offer.
